You have to start somewhere....

Since I didn't do any sort of journal when we were expecting Emily, I thought it might be nice to start a record of the addition of Martin Baby #2. A little late in the game, but at least I am starting it before he/she arrives!

We are officially under 4 weeks from delivery now, and it has all felt much more real since they scheduled my C-section. With a date and time on my calendar, it is planned, relatively confirmed, that I will be delivering a baby sometime on June 25th. They give you an exact time, but we all know Dr.'s track records with being on time for anything. Add a hospital staff to that, and it could very well be midnight! Regardless, our baby has a birth date, if not a name. Unless of course, he/she decides to make an appearance early. Wouldn't that be interesting! As Emily literally had to be pried out, I am not anticipating any surprises from this baby.

Last weekend, we began some full blown preparation. Tim graciously went into out hot attic and pulled down almost all of the newborn baby clothes and equipment. I forgot how much stuff can come with a baby. I immediately began trying to figure out where the swing and pack-n-play were going to go, now that Emily has a living room full of a toy box, play kitchen, art table and chairs, and lord knows what else. Unless we are moving out the sofas and TV, some of her toys are going to have to be relocated. I am not looking forward to that battle! Poor kid - her whole world is about to be turned upside down, and she has no idea what's coming. She is very excited - in theory - about the baby. She loves babies. I just hope she loves this one when it comes home and stays!

I am also really looking forward to the baby shower tomorrow. It is a rare opportunity to see some friends I don't get to see very often. Should be a nice lunch with friends and a chance to catch up with everyone. And there will be cake I am sure!

I am trying to keep Emily busy now that she is out of Preschool for the summer. She is used to having other children to play with three mornings a week, and now she just has me. We meet up once a week with the Moms n Tots group from our church, where she already knew some of the kids from Preschool. The playground is a wonderful thing! And the best part - it's free! She has 2 friends from Preschool, Gigi and Megan, that she had a tea party with 2 Fridays ago. They dressed up and had chocolate milk in tea cups and little peanut butter sandwiches. They had a ball. They shared the tea party with Gigi's younger brother, Jackson, and Megan's baby sister, Anna. The kids were so cute! I hope she gets to do more things like that this summer. I guess it will depend on how flexible the baby is!
